Shortly after forming in 2019, this Czech piano trio’s talent and deep musicality became apparent after winning top prizes in prestigious competitions, including the Gianni Bergamo Award in Lugano, the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Vienna, and London’s Parkhouse Award. Their meteoric rise has led to concert tours throughout Europe, including the Musikverein in Vienna and Wigmore Hall in London. The trio won the 2024 Presto Music Award for Debut Album of the Year. We’re honored to have them make their Hawai‘i debut with HCMS.

Trio Bohémo (Matouš Pěruška – violin, Kristina Vocetková – cello, Jan Vojtek – piano) has swiftly emerged as a force on the international chamber music scene. Within just five years, the ensemble has garnered prestigious accolades including First Prize and the Audience Prize at the “International Joseph Haydn Competition” in Vienna, “International Parkhouse Award” in London and “International Johannes Brahms Competition” in Austria. Moreover, they are prize winners of competitions such as “Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition” in Australia or “International Joseph Joachim Competition” in Germany to name a few. On top of that the trio was named Ensemble of the Year 2021 by Italian society “Le Dimore del Quartetto” and received prestigious award by the “Czech Chamber Music Society”.​

Debuts followed at leading venues such as the Vienna Musikverein, Wigmore Hall in London, and Stoller Hall in Manchester, as well as major festivals including Prague Spring Festival (CZ), Schwarzwald Musikfestival (DE) and Gent Festival van Vlaanderen (BE). They were repeatedly invited as guests on the BBC Radio’s 3 In Tune show.

In 2024, Trio Bohémo released their debut CD for the label Supraphon featuring works by Smetana and Schubert. The Guardian chose it as the “Classical Album of the week” alleging the performance to be ‘utterly convincing’, BBC Magazine gave it five stars claiming the performance of Smetana to be an ‘extraordinary standout’. Furthermore, The CD won the ‘Debut Album of the Year’ at the Presto Music Awards 2024.

In the 2024-2025 season, Trio Bohémo undertook tour in Australia appearing in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney and Brisbane and also two coast to coast tours in the US performing at places like ‘The Conrad’ in La Jolla (CA), Grand Piano Series in Naples (FL), San Jose (CA), Rockport Festival (MA), Vilar Performing Arts Center (CO) or multiple concerts in Los Angeles (CA) including the Da Camera Society. In Europe the trio performed two triple concertos with the Brno Philharmonic and notable appearances include the Aldeburgh Festival (UK), Dvořák’s Hall of Rudolfinum in Prague (CZ), Chamonix Vallée Classics Festival (FR) and performances throughout Austria, Netherlands, Denmark or Germany.

Engagements during the 2025-2026 season will include their New York City Debut, concerts in Canada (Vancouver, Montreal, Ontario), Las Vegas Chamber Music Festival (NV), Shandelee Music Festival (NY) or performances in Honolulu (HI) and San Francisco (CA). Upcoming European highlights include multiple performances at the ISA Festival (AT), where the trio was invited to be the ‘Ensemble in Residence’, Dachstein Festival (AT), Barnes Festival (UK), Shaldon Festival (UK), tour in Ireland and concerts across Denmark, England and Czech Republic.

Trio Bohémo was a member of the “European Chamber Music Academy” from 2020–2022, studying under renowned mentors such as Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, Patrick Jüdt or Avedis Kouyoumdjian. Thanks to the generous support of Dr. Jan Telenský, Matouš performs on an impeccable copy of the Antonio Stradivari ‘Willemotte’ violin by Florian Leonhard. Kristina plays a beautifully crafted cello by Fausto Maria Bertucci.
